Golf Holidays in California

A golf holiday in California will amaze and delight you. The third largest state in the USA and nearly twice as large as the UK, it’s only when you tour California that you realise just how  enormous the USA is. From forests taking a day to drive through to 20-mile fields of artichoke plants, California is a geographic masterpiece and the golf is the same with many of the courses rated among America’s very best and even the World Top 100.

San Diego, in and around Los Angeles, Carmel, Palm Springs and Napa Valley are our “tried and trusted” venues in California, with many clients asking us to add a few days of sightseeing in Los Angeles or San Francisco to their tour.

A 11-hour flight from London, it’s best to allow at least 10 or more days for your California golf holiday to give you plenty of time to experience two or three venues and take in some great courses including a couple of tick-list gems like Pebble Beach and Pelican Hill.

Palm Springs is the perfect winter-sunshine destination and has reinvented itself over the last decade with impressive hotels and a very strong cultural and gourmet scene.

San Diego is one of the USA’s most welcoming cities and boasts plenty of museums and attractions as well as four fine golf courses. It’s a great choice for a one-base, easy California golf venue with airport, hotels and golf courses all within easy reach.

Carmel arguably boasts the most impressive stretch of golfing coastline in the world with Cypress Point, Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula, Spyglass and Poppy Hills pretty much lying cheek-to-cheek. We are able to get you onto the very exclusive courses at Monterey. Cypress Point is possible but with a large fee and Pebble Beach is best played as part of a package when staying at one of the three resort hotels. Spyglass, Poppy Hills, Pasatiempo and Bayonet would grace any golf holiday and offer us easy access at good rates.

Napa Valley, to the north of San Francisco, is the home of great American wines, fine hotels and four enjoyable golf courses. A week here with plenty of tastings and a few rounds is perfect if you want the golf to be part of the holiday rather than the main focus.

Driving in California is a real pleasure and our rates for the hire cars are very attractive so you can fill your boots (and the car boot too!) with a big car and really enjoy the scenery of your California golf tour.
