Golf Holidays in Mauritius
Mauritius is our favourite long-haul “exotic” golf holiday destination.
With a glorious selection of hotels and golf courses, beautiful beaches and perfect weather, Mauritius has everything you need to really, really relax. There are several direct flights a week from London and you can save some money and enjoy the convenience of daily flights and your local airport if you fly via Paris. Likewise, flying from your local airport via Dubai is very cost-effective and you can always have a couple of nights in downtown Dubai to add a glittering contrast to the natural attractions of Mauritius.
We focus on a fine selection of five-star resorts pretty much all around the coast of Mauritius. You’ll find most golf courses on the east coast but there are a few on the south and south-west shores and a new, and highly-rated, layout in the north. Wherever you choose, you’ll be impressed with the quality of the hotels, the food and the facilities. As for the golf, you’ll be hard pressed to find such enjoyable and beautiful golf courses in any other exotic destination worldwide.
We would suggest taking at least half-board as the hotels all have a choice of restaurants. All-Inclusive is becoming increasingly attractive too – particularly if you fancy a holiday with no self-imposed limits on the drinks and food! Often, the All-Inclusive also means free golf buggies so it can be cost-effective if you don’t plan to eat or drink too much but do want to play a lot.
Weather-wise, December through to February (the Mauritius summer) are the perfect solution to the dismal UK weather, and the spring and autumn months in Mauritius are also very attractive and warm without the sometimes intense heat of the summer months. And the so-called winter months of July and August are very similar to the best balmy days of the English summer. Price-wise, December through to January is the most expensive, spring and autumn are good value and summer is a bargain.
