For Egypt, we concentrate on Hurghada on the south of the Red Sea coast and the capital city of Cairo.
Flights to Hurghada from the UK take 5 1/2 hours and you’re Meeted & Greeted, whisked through Passport Control with your pre-arranged Visa and then a private transfer of about 45 minutes takes you to our two favourite five-star golf hotels in the region.
Hurghada is primarily a beach resort down and has long been famous for scuba diving. The resort has plenty of restaurants and bars. For a more traditional experience, visit nearly El Dahar with its souks and coffee shops. I also recommend a trip to Mahmya Island and a fishing trip. And if you’re into scuba diving, you’re in for a treat with world-famous coral reefs and a wide variety of fish to admire.
Daytime temperatures never fall below 20 C and above 30 C between October and April and the quality of accommodation and warmth of service is most welcoming. Hurghada makes for an easy-to-get-to warm weather and “easy” golf destination with a good golf course on your doorstep and a choice of half-board or All Inclusive.
The two golf courses are perfect for holiday golf – Soma Bay, designed by Gary Player, is the better course but Madinat Makadi is no slouch. Target golf with plenty of great views, these courses are great for keeping your swing in order while the weather back home is wet and mean.
Prices range from great, to terrific-value. It’s best to book quite early as flight prices can get pretty steep if booking late. Hurghada is served by no fewer than eight airports in England.
