Golf Holidays in Bordeaux & Dordogne

Bordeaux was voted “Best European Destination 2015” and has continued to build upon its much-deserved recognition.

Bordeaux is now a serious golf destination. It offers everything for a good golf holiday and a whole lot more.

The city and the surrounding areas have long been famous for wine, history and stunning countryside and now the fine weather, food and world-famous wine have been joined by a great number of direct flights from the UK, a rejuvenated city and the opening of top-class golf courses as well as the improvement of several others.

With no fewer than three courses in Europe’s Top 100, two others worthy of praise and half-a-dozen easy-on-the-eye designs, the Bordeaux region rivals or even beats the golf on offer in other European countries. The area is perfect for driving tours and parties where you mix and match the accommodation, the tourist attractions, the joie de vivre and a few rounds of golf.  My choice of  accommodation takes in family-run Logis, self-catering resorts, golf hotels and luxury hotels.

To the east of Bordeaux and along the Dordogne river, the region is full of medieval villages, castles and small market towns. It’s ripe for relaxing tourism. Dordogne is split into five areas but is often collectively referred to by the French as le Périgord in France and is revered for its food and beauty.  I focus on country retreats and holiday golf courses leaving you time to explore the amazing sights and myriad of eateries. The hotels are surprisingly good value and the self-catering options really keep the cost down as well as providing good quality flexibility for groups and families.  Why not take your take your own car and holiday for 7 nights or more taking in a couple of hotels and three or four courses? You’ll relax a lot, see plenty and make sure you have room in your car boot to stock up on lots of goodies to take back home.
