The much-admired architect Donald Steel created 27 very pretty holes at Vigiers – admittedly it would be hard not to because of the scenery. He’s made a very balanced course with a mix of difficulties but none too difficult for the typical well-to-do Chateau des Vigiers clients.
The names of the three loops of nine – Lake, Vineyard and Valley – pretty much tell you what lies in store but they all have similar traits of nicely-shaped fairways and large greens.
A good resort course, made all the nicer with the great food and estate wine available in the clubhouse and the sumptuous bedrooms in the chateau and contemporary Relais annexe.
