I’m delighted to provide my recommendation for a Spanish golf holiday next October. I am providing a couple of different prices, for the five-star Fairmont on the coast and the new-look MIM Hotel on Sotogrande marina, these two hotels provide luxury and good value.
The Fairmont opened late spring this year and client feedback has been excellent. Fairmont is a very strong brand and I know the site is exceptional so the hotel should become one of the leading lights along the Costa del Sol. The hotel bedrooms start at a whopping 52m2, has a private beach as well as the usual Fairmont standards of dining and leisure, the Executive Chef for the resort’s three restaurants has two Michelin stars. As well as the 150 bedrooms, there are 47 villas and 161 suites so there is plenty going on. The spa is huge and the hotel is a very welcome and smart addition to the area and has the added attraction of being adjacent to the two Hacienda golf courses.
The golf in the area is super-strong with the likes of San Roque Old (pictured above), La Reserva, Finca Cortesin, Valderrama and Sotogrande all rated among the very finest in Europe. Hacienda Links was short-listed for best new golf course in 2023 and its sister course, The Heathland, is a pleasant parkland, both the Links and Heathland surround the Fairmont Hotel. For the Fairmont itinerary, golf is included at the Heathland, Links, Finca Cortesin, La Reserva and San Roque…It’s a mouth-watering list of beautiful golf courses.
Private airport transfers and private transfers are included to the three “away” golf courses – Finca Cortesin being by far the furthest at 25 minutes. You need to allow 75 minutes for the airport transfers.
