Course overview

San Roque offers two classic courses, both rated among Spain’s finest.

The Old Course is being completely remodelled and will be reopen in November 2020 along with an improved clubhouse as part of the effort by the new owners to put San Roque back at the very top.

In the meantime, the New Course is a cracker with fairly narrow fairways, a variety of doglegs and water hazards around the turn. Low handicappers will relish the classic test with plenty of bunkers and huge greens so distance control is vital. Even so, I’d recommend all but the very best play off the Yellows as the Whites bring in o play lots more bunkers…And you are on holiday after all! The condition of the golf course is much improved over the recent “lean” years and I’m looking forward to when the Old Course reopens and San Roque becomes a fantastic 36-hole venue again. The adjacent hotel is still closed but the new owners are doing their best to buy that too.

Tony Jacklin’s former house serves as the restaurant until the new one opens.
