I am delighted to provide my recommended itinerary for a Les Bordes & Les Aisses holiday this September.
Les Bordes is a magical place (click on the link to discover the brochure). I was there very recently and the Old golf course is as beautiful as ever and the resort has benefitted from serious investment with more leisure facilities and outstanding villas. The cottages have been refurbished and they have ones with a pagoda, terrace and table overlooking the 18th fairway. The clubhouse is a very short walk from the cottages and is my favourite clubhouse in the world – the atmosphere is perfect and relaxing. The food was pretty good and I’m told a new Head Chef is starting soon. The wine list is excellent and reasonably priced.
Our prices include Unlimited Golf on the Old and super 10-hole Wild Piglet short course. The New course is undergoing some corrective work but will no doubt bounce back soon as the General Manager and Green Keeper have huge experience. However, for the time being I would suggest we concentrate on playing the Old and Wild Piglet. The Wild Piglet is a par-three course, rated in the top 25 short courses worldwide and is perfect for a loosener in the morning or after a long lunch. My favourite holes are the 6th and 17th on the Old and 4th on the Wild Piglet.
Les Bordes is about 30 minutes west of La Ferte St Aubin and is in a secluded forest location near Beaugency. Deer roam the fairways and it’s rather idyllic and I was also impressed with the service levels and I’m told that even more staff are joining soon. Les Bordes is set to become “Europe’s most desirable private estate”.
Chateau des Muids is charming and rated dated but it’s looking relatively fresh these days with brand new terraces and a spot of renovation and the food and wine is as good as always. This price is based on a Junior Suite (35m2) in the main chateau to ensure a bedroom of decent size. Golf des Aisses was looking in terrific order with the back nine boasting a terrific stretch of holes. It’s deservedly rated in the French top 10 now.
