I’m delighted to provide my itinerary for a holiday in Cyprus and have provided prices for private transfers and a hire car as this is without flights.
Aphrodite Hills is a smart choice – it’s cracking value, the food offering is good these days and the golf course interesting and well-maintained. Although officially a five-star, please expect a good-quality four-star in terms of presentation and service level. The staff are friendly and very welcoming and the food I had during a recent visit there was excellent.
There is an “Adults Only” section of the resort with, if I remember correctly, three or four distinct parts of the hotel, each hosting bedrooms, restaurants or leisure facilities.
Hotel facilities are extensive with impressive gym, umpteen pools and a spa. There is one restaurant for the All Inclusive breakfast, two for lunch, four for dinner and two for snacks. Local branded spirits, beers and wine as well as soft drinks are included. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the local wines…Light, fresh, quite fruity with no aftertaste. You can now also have lunch at the clubhouse on golfing days if you take the All Inclusive option.
The golf course has hosted the European Tour on a few occasions. The fairways are generous, greens large and true and there are a variety of hazards – sometimes quite startling like huge ravines – to overcome. It’s good fun and would sit comfortably among the better courses on mainland Europe. Buggies are included and the practice facilities are very good indeed.
The three other courses near Paphos are quite varied…I was disappointed in Minthis Hills although it has potential. Secret Valley was beautiful and a very varied woodland layout in a verdant location and Elea is a welcoming target layout which is now looking good idea after a few “lost” years. For the time being, I have included golf only at Aphrodite Hills as it’s on-site and the best golf course.
The hotel is quite low-level but spread out over a large area. I have provided a price for the standard 35m2 Pool View bedroom and also the upgrade to a One Bedroom Suite that looks out over the sea and golf course and would get a little more sunshine than the Pool View bedroom.
For weather in November, expect warm day time temperatures of 21-22 C.
