Golf Holidays in Costa Blanca

It’s hard to look further than the ever-green resort of La Manga when you’re thinking about heading to the sunny Costa Blanca in the south-east of Spain. La Manga has it all – a five-star hotel, four-star apartments and villas, four restaurants, a spa and three golf courses – and I rarely suggest elsewhere as the resort can tick so many boxes for so many people. That said, the Costa Blanca has some other gems that are well worth staying and playing at.

The main airport is Alicante but Murcia is well-placed for some key destinations too. Working north to south, I really enjoy the golf course of La Galiana which is gloriously remote and well worth the drive. The closest good hotel to La Galiana is La Sella which has its own pretty golf course and a welcoming ambience and great food. La Sella avoids the crowds and makes your holiday budget go a long way. Further south is VillaItana with four- and five-star accommodation and a fine 18-hole parkland and brilliant 9-holer. A few minutes’ drive from Benidorm, VillaItana is perfectly located for some peaceful R&R and good golf before you head down to the famous resort which is far smarter and far more charming that you’d think.

I don’t think much of many of the venues closer to Alicante as the hotels are mundane and the golf courses are very much orientated toward the “occasional” golfer. Best to avoid these and head south to Las Colinas which is a fantastic golf course, regularly voted No.1 in Spain. Las Colinas boasts a great clubhouse which also acts as the focal point for the nearby apartments and very smart villas. And then we arrive at La Manga where you can stay and play for a week or more without ever thinking of leaving the resort.

Costa Blanca claims to have the most hours of sunshine in all of Spain so you know you’re making a good decision whenever you want to holiday. My deals make it excellent value-for-money too.
