Only open for a few years, Las Colinas has already gathered more awards than most courses ever will. It’s a sumptuous and terrific golf course which entices you to take driver and then makes you really think about your second and then your approach shots. Located halfway between Alicante and Murcia, I consider Las Colinas to be the best course in the region and one of the very best in Spain.
The golf course is visually stunning with plenty of huge white sand bunkers but they shouldn’t come into play too often. The greens are huge and slick so make sure you club right. Designed by Cabell Robinson and managed by Troon Golf, the clubhouse, the course and the whole experience is first-class. Hilly in parts, a buggy is worthwhile if you don’t plan to be resting on the beach in the afternoon. I have good rates at the “design” villas and comfortable apartments if you fancy an intensive golf week on one of the best courses you’ll play in a long time. The setting is perhaps a little quiet for a group but it’s ideal for a golf escape or if you like the idea of exploring the attractions of the local area by car. And the clubhouse serves as restaurant when you don’t want to use the very nice kitchen.
