The Marriott Praia d’El Rey is the largest of the resorts on the Silver Coast. Hotel Accommodation

Quite generous in size and typically five-star Marriott quality, many of the 177 bedrooms have private balconies or terraces with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean or fairways.

For families or larger groups, the private townhouses and villas are an excellent choice. These multi-bedroom accommodations come with fully equipped kitchens and living areas, ideal for longer stays or if you prefer the flexibility of preparing your own meals. Located either closer to the beach or the golf course, these residences provide a blend of resort comfort with the comforts of home. Dining & Bars

Temperica: This is the resort’s signature restaurant/. Expect Portuguese cuisine at its finest, with a modern twist on traditional dishes. Seafood lovers will be especially impressed, with fresh catches from the Atlantic served alongside regional wines.

Clubhouse: After a round of golf, I always recommend the Clubhouse. With its laid-back atmosphere and spectacular views of the course, it’s ideal for lunch or a casual evening meal. The menu features everything from fresh salads to hearty burgers, perfect for unwinding after a day on the links.

Contemporary Bar & Lounge: If you’re looking for a relaxed space to enjoy a drink or light bite, this is the place. I find it’s perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or winding down after a day exploring the Silver Coast.

Golf

Golf at Praia D’El Rey is a real highlight. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, this par-73 links-style course blends seamlessly into the coastal dunes and offers incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean. For me, it’s not just the beauty of the course that stands out but the way it challenges you the more you take on. Recently upgraded, the golf course is a worth neighbour to the world-class West Cliffs golf course just a short drive away. The course spans 7,000 yards, with a mix of seaside and inland holes. The front nine takes you through the rugged dunes with views over the ocean, while the back nine moves inland, offering a more sheltered and manicured layout.

Explore the Silver Coast

Make the most of your holiday and discover more than the golf courses. The medieval town of Óbidos, just a short drive away, is must-see. Its cobbled streets, castle, and traditional Portuguese charm make for a wonderful day out. Nearby Peniche is a favourite for surfers, and the Berlenga Islands are a unique spot for nature lovers.
