Saint Omer demonstrates how enjoyable a proper, hilly layout can be. The undulating terrain keeps every hole interesting, with plenty of sloping lies that reward good course management.

It is a course that makes you think without ever feeling unfair. Most of the Haut-de-France Open Challenge Tour event has taken place here, which underlines its quality. The front nine eases you in with wider landing areas and sweeping views across the valley, especially from the elevated tees on holes 3 and 5.

The back nine feels more dramatic and demanding, with tighter drives, steeper elevation changes and superb long-range views, particularly around holes 14 to 16. A characterful course to play with all the convenience of the clubhouse and hotel just a pitching wedge away from each other.
