Chateau des Vigiers, Monestier

Hotel Overview

Known as “Little Versailles” by the locals, Chateau des Vigiers is probably the most complete chateau-golf-hotel in France with top-quality facilities and a modern annexe complementing the 16th-century focal point. We’ve enjoyed Vigiers for over 25 years and it’s a reference point for good living with nice golf in a beautiful part of the world.

Chateau des Vigiers is set amid the famous vineyards of this beautiful and unspoiled region, known for its wine, gastronomy and history. The hotel is located just 25 minutes from Bergerac Airport and about an hour east of Bordeaux, making it easy to explore the nearby attractions and towns. The hotel has a charming ambience, with elegant rooms and suites decorated in a classic French style. The service levels are high, with attentive staff and personalised attention. The grounds are huge and come with fishing lake and adjacent orchards and vineyards.

Accommodation

The hotel offers two uniquely different hotel experiences. Guests can choose to stay in the Chateau or the ultra-modern and ecologically-friendly Le Relais. The Chateau is the obvious centrepiece of the estate, dating back to the 16th_Century and formerly known as “Petit Versailles”. It has 25 rooms and suites, each with its own character and charm. Le Relais is a modern and comfortable hotel with bright and spacious rooms in a natural setting. It has 40 rooms, each with a balcony or terrace overlooking the lake, the golf course or the vineyards.

Golf

The hotel boasts one of the prettiest golf courses in France, designed by Donald Steel. The course consists of three fairly contrasting 9-hole loops – mostly easy-walking, Vigiers provides an extremely pleasant game of golf through spectacular Dordogne countryside. The course also has a driving range, a putting green, a pro shop and a golf academy.

Dining and Bars

The hotel has two restaurants on site, both offering exquisite cuisine and stunning views. The Michelin star restaurant, “Les Fresques”, is located in the Chateau and serves refined and creative dishes using local and seasonal ingredients. The brasserie “Le Chai” is located in the former wine cellar of the estate and offers a more casual and relaxed dining experience. It serves traditional French cuisine with a modern twist, as well as pizzas and salads. The hotel also has two bars where guests can enjoy a drink or a snack. The Piano Bar is located in the Chateau and has a intimate atmosphere with live music on some evenings. The Club House Bar is located next to the golf course and has a terrace overlooking the lake.

Recreational and Wellness

For those who want to relax and pamper themselves, the Spa by Sothys offers a variety of treatments and massages using natural products. The spa also has a sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi, a heated swimming pool and a gym. For those who want to explore the surroundings, the hotel can arrange bike rental, wine tasting tours, hot air balloon rides, horse riding, canoeing and more. For those who want to enjoy some culture, we can either arrange a private guide or arrange a hire car to explore the castles, museums, markets and villages of one of the most picturesque regions in France.

Conclusion

Chateau des Vigiers is the epitome of golf holidays in France; your holiday will combine history, golf, fine-dining, immaculate scenery and a very welcome ambience – all backed up by super-smooth and experienced service.   Getting to Vigiers can be part of a gentle self-drive “Tour de France” designed by us, a fly-drive to Bordeaux (year round flights) or even to nearby Bergerac Airport where there are flights from March through to October from up to 8 UK airports.
