Golf Holidays in Lisbon

Golf in and around Lisbon has come into its own over the last 15 years with no fewer than 16 courses worthy of your time and money. Established classics like Troia, Estoril and Aroeira have been joined by the high quality Oitavos and Penha Longa – both of which have hosted the Portuguese Open – and plenty more. There are two distinct golfing zones in the area – the slightly more high-end is on the coast of Cascais and Estoril and the other is to the south and is less touristic and less expensive. Around Cascais, we like Hotel Albatroz and the Ritz Carlton Penha Longa as well as the Vila Gale hotels if we’re on a tighter budget.

If you’re ready to travel up to 75 minutes north of Lisbon then you’ll be able to savour the quintet of beautiful courses including Campo Real, Bom Sucesso, Praia d’El Rey, Obidos and West Cliffs. More driving is required to get to and from the golf courses but the value is sensational and the hotels are the latest in impressive contemporary Portuguese design.
