I’m delighted to provide my recommended itinerary for a spring sunshine golf holiday in Tenerife. The hotel prices lower from March 23 so then or after is the most cost-effective period to holiday, and it’s still likely to be damp in the UK so a break in the Canary Island sunshine would be good timing.
Hotel Las Madrigueras on Tenerife continues to be the best small golf-hotel in the Canaries and has a long-standing team (with an average of 25 years’ service!) and a deserved reputation for food and service. The bedrooms are spacious and well-presented and the hotel is “smart but casual”. I have several clients going there on a regular basis. The hotel serves a wonderful breakfast and its Belle Vue restaurant is open for lunch and the poolside Bogey restaurant is open every evening.
The hotel is a leisurely stroll from the bustling centre and marina of Los Cristianos, 10 minutes’ drive from the centres of Costa Adeje and Playa de las Americas and 15 minutes’ drive from the airport.
The golf course (Las Americas) is among the best on the island (after Buenavista and Abama) and is a pretty parkland, mostly easy-walking and with wide fairways and a few water obstacles. Hotel residents have free use of a buggy for their rounds of golf.
For weather, expect mid-20’s Centigrade and eight hours of sunshine a day.
