Hotel Overview

The Kempinski, Muscat is a five-star luxury hotel that offers a contemporary stay near the capital of Oman. The hotel is situated on the coast, facing the Gulf of Oman, and is part of the modern community of Al Mouj, meaning ‘the Wave’ which now also includes the St Regi, a diving centre and restaurants. It’s the trendiest area in town, designed to attract well-to-do tourists as well as smart housing for the affluent locals. The hotel itself is lively and backed up by the excellent Kempinski service and style. I enjoyed my visit there in December 2024.

The hotel is surrounded by six kilometres of stunning coastline, a marina, just a couple of miles from the best-designed golf course in Oman (and one of the best in the Arabian peninsula region). The hotel is also conveniently located near the Muscat International Airport, and the attractions of the city such as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House, and the Muttrah Souq.

Accommodation

The hotel features 310 spacious rooms and suites, as well as 77 apartments and 12 villas for longer stays. Each room and suite has a gas fireplace, a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Most rooms and suites also have a private balcony or terrace with breathtaking views of the ocean or the landscaped gardens. The apartments and villas offer more space and amenities, such as a kitchenette, a living area, a dining table, and a washer/dryer.

Golf

The hotel is close to one of the most prestigious golf courses in Oman: Al Mouj Golf. Designed by Greg Norman, it’s got a strong links feel and is a fine course from start to finish. It’s quite tight at first but opens up as you get close to the coast. The course has stunning views of the sea and the mountains and has playing of “boom or bust” shots. Good fun and well maintained.

Dining & Bars

The hotel offers a variety of dining options for guests to savour. From authentic Omani cuisine at Al Mina to Mediterranean cuisine at The Beach Bar & Grill, there is something for every taste and occasion. Guests can also enjoy international cuisine at The Kitchen Restaurant, Asian cuisine at Soi Soi Restaurant, or Italian cuisine at Pèppoli Restaurant. For drinks and entertainment, guests can visit 1897 Cigar Lounge & Bar for cigars and cocktails, Zale Beach Club & Lounge for music and dancing, or Stave Wine Cellar for wine tasting and tapas.

Recreational & Wellness

The hotel also offers many recreational and wellness activities for guests to enjoy. Guests can relax at the private beach or the outdoor swimming pool, or explore the water sports centre for kayaking, sailing, snorkeling or diving. Guests can also pamper themselves at the Kempinski The Spa. Guests can also access the fitness centre, the tennis courts, the kids club, and the bowling alley at the hotel.

The Kempinski, Muscat is an ideal destination for guests who want to experience the best of Oman in a luxurious and relaxing setting – at surprisingly good value.
