One of my favourite holidays in France is at Fregate on the Provence coast, boasting 300 days of sunshine a year just a 90 minute flight from London.
Under an hour from Marseille Airport and you’re in a little bit of Heaven at Fregate Provence Golf on the Mediterranean coast. With its own stunning golf course (which encourages aggressive play), two restaurants, spa, two pools and vineyard, this renovated four-star hotel boasts 130 spacious bedrooms and priceless views. If you’re looking for a touch more privacy and a kitchen, ask us about the contemporary Bastide annexe or the spacious Apartments Residence.
Breakfast is hearty, the clubhouse brasserie offers tasty Provencale dishes on the terrace overlooking the 18th and dining in the evening is either in the elegant salon or by the pool. Very comfortable, Fregate provides all the style you need to feel good and the laid-back atmosphere to make you relax. It’s a fantastic, easy-to-get-to sunshine destination throughout the year and you should consider it over better known (and more expensive) venues on the Algarve and Costa del Sol…You’ll play a fine golf course, enjoy the very special destination of Provence and save a lot of money too.
The golf course, designed by Ronald Fream, is rated among the best 50 courses in France and deservedly so – it’s a visual treat, requires the full variety of shots and makes you want to play well. I’ve had some great games there and the views are a wonderful bonus.
For apres-golf, Bandol, Saint Cyr-sur-Mer, Le Castellet, Aix-en-Provence and many more are all picture-postcard places to explore and sample the fabulous cuisine.
