Course overview

Located within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, San Lorenzo is consistently ranked among Europe’s top courses. Designed by Joseph Lee in 1988, the course takes full advantage of its topography with several holes offering views of lagoons and the Atlantic Ocean, and others cut through the umbrella pine woodland. The course is now back in good condition after suffering from erratic irrigation but the clubhouse is still temporary after the previous one burnt down.

My Take

San Lorenzo is one of the most stunning and pleasing courses in Portugal and has long been a favourite. It’s an absolute must to play and is a treat for tired eyes with the course routing taking in pine woods, lakes and the Ria Formosa nature reserve. Clients of the Dona Filipa Hotel enjoy a shared courtesy shuttle service to/from the course.
