For those of you who know Les Aisses near Orleans, you’ll be interested to know that Saint Jean de Monts is now owned by the same family and they employed Martin Hawtree to work his magic on what was already a good golf course – just as he did at Les Aisses, which now rates as No.7 in France.
Saint Jean de Monts boasts a brilliant Atlantic coast situation and takes in nine dramatic links holes and nine holes through a pine forest. Rated in the French Top 30, the 6500-yard course is a joy and a challenge to play. Make sure you arrive well before your tee-time as you’ll want to hit a few looseners before you take on the first drive – you’ll see what we mean when you get there. The panoramic clubhouse offers fine seafood overlooking the ocean.
About an hour from La Baule and Les Sables d’Olonne, Saint Jean de Monts is worth the drive and the course is good enough to base yourself at our excellent Logis de France in the centre of the beach town about 1½ miles away and just play “play and stay”.
