Course overview

Saint Germain is one of my very favourite courses and, in my opinion, the best in the area west of Paris. Loved by my clients, Saint Germain is probably the least known of the “big” courses around Paris but discretion is the better part of valour as the surprise is very pleasant indeed. The welcome by the staff is as warm as the clubhouse is charming. The course was laid out by Harry Colt in 1920. Highly wooded and sculptured, Saint Germain is a beautiful and intricate design with plenty of bunkers, raised greens and gorgeous fairways. It’s easy walking but it’s not easy to score well on as, as with most classic Colt and Simpson courses, the approaches and greens are very subtle and you really need to read the shape of the course rather than just aiming for where looks most promising. Make sure you leave time before or after the game to have lunch in the wonderful clubhouse. A great day out.
