La Forêt is the perfect partner to La Mer because it’s a different mood: more sheltered, more intimate, more “shape the ball between the trees.” It’s the course you play when the wind is up, or when you want a scoring day — but don’t mistake that for “easy.”

The forest framing makes stance control and positioning matter, and it can be wonderfully exacting. La Forêt starts off with a fairly random design as, over the years, it has stolen holes from its two sister courses. However, this makes for a good rest of golf before you head into the forest where the design is more coherent and very pretty.
