We’ve always had a soft spot for La Freslonniere golf club despite its narrow fairways not seeing enough of our drives! The most accomplished and mature course around Rennes, the estate of La Freslonniere dates back to the 14th-century but the golf course is a more recent affair having opened in 1989.
Just 6300 yards with a par of 72, you may think that La Freslonniere is for the taking but such is the shape of the fairways and the propensity of the doglegs, you won’t take any risks and par may finally seem to be a bit miserly. There’s a fair amount of water too. Play with your brains, keep your big shots in the bag and you’ll enjoy the scenic walk and clever design where strategy will always overcome brawn.
There’s good food in the clubhouse and we have a deal with the spacious accommodation on site – for clever golf in a homely setting, you won’t find much better in the northern half of France.
