Course overview

One of my most favourite courses in the world (probably because I always play it well), Kingsbarns is full of dramatic course architecture but shows you a clear way to the greens. In short, it rewards good shots but has plenty of hazards to punish sloppy ones. Set 7 miles west of St Andrews, Kingsbarns hosts European Ladies and Men’s tours on a regular basis.
A modern course, Kingsbarns nevertheless dates back to the 19th-century but was closed when the land was mined to prevent the Germans landing in WWII. Opened again some 55 years after the war, it was the course that made Kyle Phillips a celebrated name in the golfing industry.
