Hardelot Les Pins

Course overview

  • Architect: Tom Simpson

  • Par / White tees: Par 71, 6,674 yds

  • Ranking: No. 34 in Golf World – Europe Top 100 (2025)

  • This is the course that people talk about in slightly conspiratorial tones — because it doesn’t shout, and yet it’s serious. Simpson’s design voice is all over: the angles, the sly little green complexes, the feeling that you’re being invited to take on a heroic shot… while the course quietly sets a trap for anyone who does it without a plan.

Les Pins has five proper three-shotter par fives and starts off with two of them, so you’ll only score well on the long holes if your approaches are on song. The par fours are mostly not long but they are tricky with narrow or very long greens providing the test. And the par threes are like a Scottish terrier — short, sometimes handsome, and with a surprising bite.

The fact Les Pins has hosted the European Tour Qualifying School tells you everything you need to know about its calibre. Les Pins is the course golfers talk about over dinner — usually with a hint of admiration and definitely unfinished business.
