There aren’t many golf courses with a medieval city as the backdrop and Carcassonne makes full use of the spectacular location. The par 71, 6300-yard course starts off with some quite friendly but long holes so you might get ahead of Colonel Bogey and you should stay there as it’s an uncomplicated design in good condition and with a strong welcome in the clubhouse. Quite isolated from other courses, Carcassonne is worth playing two or three times when staying in or around the magical city.
