Course overview
Bluegreen Golf de Caen, designed by Fred Hawtree, was always a decent course and has matured, over the last 20 years, into a good layout. Under new management, the course has been renamed Golf de Caen La Mer and investment in the design and maintenance of the golf course, as well as the clubhouse will help make this little pocket of Normandy (along with the 36 holes at Omaha Beach and 18 at Cabourg) and a very pleasant and very charming golf destination with 81 holes of golf…All within really easy reach of the port of Caen with its regular and impressive cross-Channel services from Portsmouth.
The 18-hole course at Golf de Caen La Mer measures just under 6800 yards from the back and requires good driving. The second shot is usually less demanding although the greens are well-protected. Easy-walking and great value, Golf de Caen La Mer is ideal for holiday golf. The 9 hole course is about 3300 yards and is a little tighter and arguably the prettier of the two – it’s perfect for nine-holes after your lunch.
