Biarritz Le Phare Golf Course LINKS

Course overview

Pretty much in the resort of Biarritz itself, Le Phare was first laid out in 1888 by Willie Dunne and located by the lighthouse (hence the name) but was moved to its present site in the 1960’s. The move cost it its links holes but it’s still a lovely layout and relatively simple to understand. Flat and with not many trees and not very long at 6000 yards, the par 69 course defends itself with subtle bumps and burrows on the fairways and greens. Home to such French golfing greats as Massy, Marie-Laure de Lorenzi, Laffite and the father of one of my very good friends, Pierre Hirogoyen, it is a course which rewards clever and classic links play.

The clubhouse welcome at Biarritz Le Phare is always very good.
