Mallorca and Slovenia have been increasingly popular with our clients this year – the former “ain’t cheap” but the quality and scenery is superb and the latter boasts some of the best views in Europe and a world-class golf course away from the crowds. Both are easy to get to but away from the golfing crowds.
Mallorca has two main golfing areas – around Palma and on the north-east coast. From end October to end February, it’s Heaven for golfers as the weather is decent, the fairways are empty and the prices really keen. Spring and autumn is busier and more expensive but everything feels so much more “polished” than other, more traditional, golf destinations. There’s history and glorious scenery too and we add wonderfully well every evening on my last visit there. The choice of hotels is wide so you can choose to be in a small golf hotel, a smart golf resort, beach side or in a tucked-away corner. Clients love it and the word is spreading. Royal Bled in Slovenia is 40 miles as the crow flies from the Italian border and there are mountains wherever you look. Bled is in a valley and it vies for being one of the very prettiest golf courses you’ll play. There are two other good courses within reach and the lake resort of Bled is a gem. This is real step back in time regarding the pace of life but there’s a bonus…The Royal Bled Golf Resort is state-of-the-art and the golf course rated in Europe’s Top 100. I would say the food is surprisingly good but that would be a disservice as the food in this part of the world has always been excellent – natural ingredients cooked with knowledge.
