Utrecht de Pan actually started over 120 years ago but came to recognition thanks to a 1929 Harry Colt layout which was modified in the 90’s by Martin Hawtree. Utrecht de Pan is 15 minutes from the hotel and has hosted three Dutch Opens and is rated in the World Top 100 and second best in the Netherlands. Set amid fairly thick woodland, the course is usually described as heathland. There are plenty of tactical doglegs. This is a brilliantly straightforward and classic course design showing that “less is more” when you let nature do more of the talking than over-complicated design
