Sperone Golf Club has featured in the European Top 100 since it opened nearly 30 years ago. Designed by the great Robert Trent Jones Snr, he said it was the best piece of land he’d ever worked with. And what a masterpiece he built!
There are a few golf courses around the world lucky enough to feature dazzling blue seas, golden beaches, cliffs and forest – and even perhaps a lighthouse. But very, very few have put the package together as well as Sperone. Easy-walking, the fairways are welcoming but you need to pay particular attention to your approaches as there are plenty of bunkers and other, more severe, hazards to overcome. However, Sperone is more beautiful than it is difficult and I would recommend any keen golfer to bring their clubs to the stunning island of Corsica.
