La Reserva Golf Club in Sotogrande has become, despite its tender years, one of the most prestigious courses in Spain.
The service and presentation is super smooth and the design is beautiful. The greens are fast – perhaps too fast when there’s a breeze or when the Greenkeeper positions the flats on the top of the undulating greens. Not too long, La Reserva does give you a few chances for a decent score but you’ve got to get your yardages right as a few of the greens are raised and a few are below you. It’s a course for thinking golfers and for those who enjoy a good, super-slick day out – from the Starter taking your clubs when you arrive to lunch on the terrace.
Part of an exclusive residential development, La Reserva is at the lower price end of the “big name” courses in the region and becomes even better value when you take advantage of my deal at the nearby Hotel Encinar.
