As well as the famous brasseries, micro-breweries, restaurants and chocolate shops, Bruges is brilliant for its variety of museums and has also gathered a fine reputation for its galleries over recent years. The apres-golf is vibrant and international.
The golf is impressive and three of the courses are no less than “Royal”. Royal Zoute is rated in the Top 5 of Europe and is looking very good after a retrospective re-design and new irrigation installed about three years ago. Royal Ostend is a somewhat “squeezed links” with a coastal road running through it but it has some great holes and is ideally placed en-route from/to Calais and is rated in Europe’s Top 100. And Damme is a highly enjoyable target golf course near Bruges with tight fairways and a few water hazards. All told, three very good and challenging golf courses.
Bruges from Calais is a drive of 75 minutes and the driving time to the courses is 15 minutes to Damme, 30 minutes to Royal Zoute and Ostend is 35 minutes.
For hotels in Bruges, we work well with the superbly-located four-star Hotel Aragon. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are scores within a very short walk. I have based the price on the standard twin bedrooms. The hotel has a car park but your large vehicles will have to park at a public car park just 80 yards from the hotel.
