Melia is a well-known upmarket Spanish hotel group and it has nine hotels on Tenerife. Our favourite is the Melia Hacienda del Conde. An adults-only hotel, we’ve got a variety of packages focusing on golf, the best bedroom, food or the spa – or all four!

With unbeatable views in the northeast of Tenerife, the resort is situated in a privileged environment beside the Teno Mountains and surrounded by the Buenavista golf course. Decorated in colonial style, the impressive complex has lovely outdoor terraces, three bars, a buffet restaurant and a gourmet restaurant..

There are 115 elegant and spacious rooms, all comprising of a separate living room and dressing area and exquisitely decorated. In addition to the wonderful golf course, guests can enjoy the spa, set in a volcanic cave.

Some distance from the larger resorts but with plenty to visit and in what is one of the prettiest parts of the island, Melia Hacienda del Conde is ideal for recharging the batteries and for exploring the beautiful coastline. A must-do day trip is to the historical town of Garachico which boasts many churches and temples and delightful restaurants.

For golfers, Buenavista is arguably the best course on the island and was one of Seve’s last creations. It plays like a links and has sensational views. There’s a complimentary shuttle bus between the hotel and clubhouse and the course is certainly good enough to play every day for a week so relax, enjoy and take advantage of the keener prices away from the main resorts in the south-west of the island.
