Whether we were pro- or against lockdown, we’re all a little shell-shocked and wary, although hungry to experience life again.
Depending on your personal attitude and health, you might want to leave the UK as soon as the restrictions ease; so a mid-May holiday to Portugal or the Canary Islands is on the cards. Or perhaps you want to “play it sensible” and wait until early June so that the airports and new travel logistics find the necessary rhythm…So France, Greece and Spain will be among your choices again. Wherever you choose, you’ll need to either have proof of full vaccination or a PCR test taken 1-3 days before leaving the UK.
Holiday prices haven’t crashed as destinations and airlines need to make some profit, and you’ll need to add a little extra time for travelling A-Z. So I would suggest you holiday for a little longer than usual, take your time and spread the cost of the travel (and PCR test) over more nights. You’ll find that hotels and golf courses have provided more space between tables, increased their hygiene levels and several of them have used the “downtime” to upgrade their facilities. In short, there’s space to spare and the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed and leisurely holiday even during the supposedly peak season.
Of course, the UK has a myriad of wonderful venues and the majority of my clients are still asking me to book England, Scotland or Wales and I think that this trend will continue until mid-July.
Take your time, don’t succumb to pressure and make sure you’re happy and confident in your choice. After all, a holiday is to be enjoyed and the goal of it is to be put a smile on your face!
