(2) Chateaux & Hotels Collection (now known as Les Collectionneurs) – this is a grouping of family-run or independent hotels with character throughout France, Belgium, Switzerland and there’s also a few in Italy
(3) Accor – one of the world’s largest hotel groups, Accor has over 3700 hotels in 92 countries around the world. And plenty of hotel brands too: think Raffles, Sofitel, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Banyan Tree, Fairmont, Rixos, Swissotel, Pullman, Angsana. Sebel, Mama, Ibis and more. I’ve got trade rates at all of them and can pass on a good chunk of the saving to you
(4) Pierre et Vacances – the self-catering and holiday village specialist. If your golfing party want the flexibility and relaxed atmosphere of an apartment or town house or you’re holidaying with your family and/or a wide range of ages, Pierre et Vacances is the cost-effective and good-quality solution in several countries around the world including France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Mauritius. (6) Leading Hotels of the World – these hotels do “what is says on the tin!” On the medium to large scale, LHW are the sure bet to choose if you want an excellent hotel in destinations you don’t yet know
(7) Les Collectionneurs (formerly Chateaux et Hotels de France), Relais de Silence and Tables & Auberges de France. These associations have strict membership and quality criteria. Les Collectionneurs is a lovely mix of independent three- to five-star hotels in Europe with the heavy emphasis on France. The hotels are usually small, family-run and feature chateaux and buildings of character. Some of the hotels are very good indeed. Look no further than Relais de Silence if you want a relaxing and quiet hotel that won’t break the bank. Again, member hotels are predominantly privately-owned. Tables & Auberges de France is enjoying a renaissance as more and more of us are looking for the “real thing” and enjoy the cosy, and sometimes quirkiness, of a family-run traditional hotel with restaurant or even restaurant with rooms.
