Course overview

A wonderful coast on the coast near Valencia, El Saler was one of the leading lights of Spain’s growth in the 1980’s and 90’s.   It is a little dated these days but that’s a good thing for anything but Professionals.

Often rated among the best in Spain and Europe, El Saler measures 7000 yards off the tips and is great blend of long par five’s, tricky par three’s and tactical par four’s – all within a wonderful site of umbrella pines and beach dunes.  Talking of the beach, there are plenty of small bunkers to work with the huge greens.   It’s a wonderful course, testing but fair and a fine reminder of just how enjoyable a “big” course can be if it’s not riddled with hazards.

Overlooking the golf course and huge beach is the four-star Paradores at which I have top-value dinner, bed and breakfast and golf packages.. The hotel also houses the golf clubhouse and the food and setting is superb.
