Golf Holidays in Bulgaria

With direct flights from Luton and Gatwick to Varna on the Black Sea coast, the Black Sea Coast is a smaller (and less expensive) All Inclusive option to Turkey. For the Black Sea coast I’ve chosen three golf-resort hotels, a small hotel on the seafront at nearby Balchik and a large all-inclusive hotel on the beach near Varna if you’re travelling with family and/or just fancy playing on a couple of days. The three courses are superb, very good and pleasant.

The weather is consistently good from early Spring to late Autumn and the people are friendly. Compared to its obvious competitor, the Black Sea Coast can’t beat Turkey for the quality in depth of the golf or the generosity of the All Inclusive but it does offer more in the way of scenery and apres-golf with the towns and resorts more accessible. It’s also incredible value and makes for a refreshing change without sacrificing the sunshine..

For golf, it’s hard to fault any of the holes at Gary Player’s Thracian Cliffs which is more a glorious assault on the senses than a test on your swing. However, BlackSeaRama will test the strongest of games and Lighthouse provides light relief where you should aim to play to your Handicap or even better.

Pravets is a resort golf course of the highest order within reach of the capital of Sofia and the hotel is comfortable, welcoming and has all the comforts you need to make good golf-hotel holiday. Sofia is a city of over 1m people and displays culture and architecture dating back to over 2000 years. Sofia Airport is very well served from many UK Airports and the weather is good for golf from early spring to late autumn. Winters can be cold but the scenery remains attractive throughout the year and the prices are just as appealing.
