Located on a private estate on the edge of Killarney National Park, Cathernane dates from 1877 and is wonderful retreat from which to play a grand mix of world-class and holiday golf courses. The hotel has 48 bedrooms with 12 in the Manor House, 28 in the Garden Wing and 8 in the newly-rebuilt Coach House, all richly furnished and with relaxing views of the gardens and park. Manor House bedrooms retain many original features and elegant, the Garden Wing bedrooms are airy and spacious and the Coach House bedrooms are fashionable while retaining a luxurious theme.
There are two restaurants – the informal Cellar and the AA Two Rosette Herbert restaurant.
As well as the numerous golf courses – there are eight courses I recommend between 5 minutes (Killarney) and one hour’s (Ballybunion) drive – Killarney House & Gardens, Ross Castle, Muckross House & Gardens and Torc Waterfall are all within a four mile radios of the hotel.
