Bethemont is a highly-rated modern layout designed by Bernhard Langer so expect a stiff challenge over the undulating and woodland terrain. Not too long and off a par 72, the course is subtle and the raised greens can be a little small so it’s still good to score 32 points or more. There are plenty of doglegs so strategy is the name-of-the-game at Bethemont as you also need to play around the water hazards. The good news is that there aren’t many bunkers! It’s no surprise that members of Bethemont often score well elsewhere. A firm success, it’s a fine sign for a modern course to do well in an area where there are so many classic layouts.
