On the outskirts of the ancient city of Montpellier, Fontcaude golf club is a very nicely shaped and easy-walking (after the first few holes) course. It’s a good design for holiday golf as the holes are either tough and quite short or more open and long. We don’t know much about the course architect Chris Pittman but he’s done a good job and the greenkeeper knows his stuff. Fontcaude, with its on-site hotel and self-Catering apartments, is yet further proof that you can experience a very enjoyable Mediterranean sunshine golf holiday without having to pay the often expensive green-fees of Spain and Portugal. And the après-golf is so much more varied in France too.
