If you’re ready (or think you are) to test your game to the highest level, the Mercure at Barbaroux golf course is just the ticket. The hotel has 52 modern and comfortable bedrooms, contemporary facilities and an easy-going atmosphere. It is surprisingly popular with seminars so there’s usually a buzz about the place but the golf course is never too busy.
As well as having a brilliant Pete Dye course – reckoned to be the most difficult in France off the back tees – there’s a vineyard at the hotel entrance and the medieval town of Brignoles is just down the road.
