The Normandy Barriere in the very centre of Deauville resort is one of the most beautiful large hotels I’ve visited. Popular with well-heeled tourists and weekend visitors from Paris, Le Normandy is a class act from start to finish. Thankfully, my rates also make the Normandy very affordable. Within the huge timber-framed manor house there are 188 bedrooms with 11 room categories to satisfy every budget. All the bedrooms are pretty and the hotel is looking as fresh as a daisy after a recent top-to-bottom renovation.
The restaurant serves a substantial buffet breakfast and lunch and dinner are more refined affairs. For non-golfers and apres-golf, there’s a new spa and indoor pool and hotel residents also have access to the full-sized Olympic pool under the beach. The hotel is at the heart of the resort so there are cafes, restaurants and smart shops on your doorstep as well as the famous casino, theatre and a few clubs to try if you don’t have an early tee-time in the morning!
