Designed by Sir Henry Cotton (who also designed the nearby championship course of Penina and lived in the area for the latter part of his life, Pestana Alto Golf is a classic parkland course that stretches 6,675 yards from the back tees. Known for its tight fairways, the course rewards accuracy over power. The standout hole is the 16th, often called “O Gigante” (The Giant), a par 5 measuring 600 meters (656 yards)—one of the longest in Europe. The layout is walkable, making it a good choice for those who prefer not to use a buggy.
