We like Courson Monteloup. It’s 36 holes of outlandish golf with huge stadium mounds, water galore and quite generous fairways coupled with well-protected greens. If you like Robert von Hagge designs but don’t want to spend a fortune, then ask me to include a couple of rounds at Courson Monteloup. Built and designed by Robert von Hagge at the same time he was creating Golf National, Courson Monteloup provides all the drama in a beautiful countryside location and at a far more reasonable green-fee. You can mix-and-match the four loops of nine so there are a potential six different courses to play. My favourite is the Lilac and Orange combination but no combination is weak and it’s great to see that Courson Monteloup is now rated in the French Top 25. Just 30 minutes from Dampierre and about 50 minutes from both Versailles and Fontainebleau. Courson has at long last gained its deserved standing.
