Course overview

Tom Doak’s first golf design in Europe and it’s a cracker. Doak has umpteen courses rated in the World Top 100 and Grand Saint Emillionais is already in the French Top 10 despite having opened as recently in 2014. Doak is probably most famous for Pacific Dunes in Oregon, Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand and Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania. He’s a respectful designer, moving earth as little as possible.

This is a serious project owned by one of the great golfing families of France. Laid out over a vast area of woodland, the course is typically American in that it encourages good driving but there the similarities end. It’s beautiful and subtle with a sublime mix of long, short and clever holes. Grand Saint Emillionais is a treat and elevates the regions golf to the highest level.
